What we do

We fund the people already doing the work well

We do not run our own clinic. We choose partner veterinarians, shelters and foster networks in Medellín and the Aburrá Valley, fund a campaign with a clear goal, and publish what happened.

How a campaign works

  1. A partner applies. Shelters, foster networks and veterinary clinics apply with a place, a date, a number of animals and a budget.
  2. We check and fund. We verify the veterinarians' licences, the facilities and the anaesthesia and after-care protocols, agree a price per surgery and transfer the funds.
  3. The campaign happens. Families bring their dogs and cats; the partner sterilizes, vaccinates and gives after-care instructions.
  4. We publish the result. Goal versus animals treated, cost per animal, photos and what we learned. If something failed, we say so.

Why sterilization first

One unsterilized cat can have several litters a year, and her kittens start reproducing within months. Most of those animals end up on the street or in shelters that are already full. Sterilization is the intervention that prevents the most suffering per dollar, which is why it is the core of our work.

Education and food for partners

Alongside the campaigns we publish free guides on responsible ownership, sterilization, adoption and animal welfare, run workshops in schools, and deliver food to shelters that work with clear goals and report back.

Where we work

Medellín and the Aburrá Valley, Colombia. We plan to open Bogotá once the partner network there is ready.

What your gift does

A monthly gift funds sterilizations in partner campaigns, including surgery, medication and after-care, at Colombian prices. Every campaign is published with its cost and result on our projects page (in Spanish).
